International Day
Today students celebrated International Day. Each student traveled around the world with their own world map and passport. As they made landings in various countries their passports were stamped and they received a flag to add to their map. While visiting that country they were given a special presentation by a volunteer parent who explained the various culture, history, traditions, and food of their respective country.
Students traveled to
- China (Yan and Crawford Murphy)
- England (Diane Tattersall)
- Germany (Mike & Heike Brown)
- Hungary (Sara and Jerry Fitzgerald with special guest speaker Stephen a father)
- Kenya (Adrienne Sipe)
- New Zealand (Stephanie Smith)
- St. Lucia (Melissa Davis and her sister Nicole Chery in national costume)
- Venezuela (Nadia and Hector Rodriquez)
Thank you so much to our parent volunteers, and family members, who helped set up and create booths for the eight countries represented. Thank you to Terry Elliott for making our fantastic passports. Thank you to Julia Beavers for preparing our maps. Thank you to Jerry Fitzgerald for making the maps and ordering the flag picks and stickers. Thank you to Stephanie Smith for ordering the flags.
Thank you to parent volunteer helpers:
Abigail Pritchett, Mary Lammens, Ashley Stevenson, Derick Davis, Karen Earp, Holly Mesa-Rincon
This was a fabulous experience as the children traveled around the world and experienced other cultures as well as tasted something new, too. Look for their passports and flag maps in their book bags.
